Our client is a publicly traded industry leader with over $1 billion in sales. The company has gone through a significant transformation and investment program in recent years and is well positioned for continued success and growth. Due to an upcoming retirement, the company is now seeking a new ‘Vice President, Operations’ to join a talented executive team and take on a significant change leadership mandate.
Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President will be responsible for a geographically disperse business with over 1,000 unionized and non-unionized employees and significant contractor relationships. The mandate will be to develop and implement a new strategy and operating structure that delivers on key profitability, operating, social and growth objectives. Core to this role is leading and supporting a major business transformation.
The ideal candidate is a senior executive in a complex, labour-intensive, unionized business. Experience could include forestry, resources (oil & gas, mining, etc.), or other industrial sectors where labour costs are a major production input. Broad experience leading manufacturing, operations, production, supply chain, safety, and finance is ideal. The preferred candidate also brings superior business acumen and an ability to transform the business through the development and implementation of a clear strategy and the use of performance metrics.
The position is based on Vancouver Island or with significant travel from Vancouver.
