Job Description:  Hardwoods Incorporated is seeking an experienced Vice President/General Manager to join the growing Atlanta based distribution group. The successful candidate will be responsible for operations of Hardwoods Inc. including management oversight, purchasing and inventory, sales and human resources development. The ideal candidate will have lumber and plywood industry management experience, strong attention to detail, and superior managerial skills. The candidate must also have excellent organizational, communication, and decision making skills. 
 
This position reports to the CEO and offers a competitive compensation package. 
 
The candidate must:

  • Develop and manage all sales programs including client base expansion, relationship cultivation, pricing guideline development and review, and corporate marketing initiatives
  • Supervise purchasing and inventory management for all centers; review new products and product categories regularly and coordinate quarterly audits
  • Oversee all shipping and warehouse operations, establish procedures, and complete site inspections
  • Manage budgets and administration, review capital expenditures, and supervise all capital improvement projects
  • Work closely with management team to accomplish profitability goals; set clear expectations, delegate, and empower managers and coach for success
  • Develop strategic business plans and budgets for all locations; design and establish operational systems and procedures designed to achieve company’s strategic objectives
  • Oversee human resources development including hiring and all employee related practices, standardization of employee practices throughout the organization, and ongoing training and development

Requirements:  The candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 10 years’ executive level experience; hardwood industry experience preferred
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or have comparable experience
  • Be a results-oriented leader with a drive for excellence in operations, employee engagement and development, and customer service
  • Act with a high degree of professionalism with the ability to build trust and gain the confidence and respect of others, both within and outside of Hardwoods, Inc.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with a willingness to try different approaches to meet goals, adjusting and adapting to market conditions and shifting priorities
  • Have outstanding multi-tasking, problem solving, and decision making skills with the ability to complete difficult assignments in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrate a “get it done” attitude with an engaging and collaborative approach to achieving company goals
  • Be computer proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce and DMSI Agility software is strongly preferred

Compensation

Salary: $125,000 -$175,000
