This is an exciting opportunity for a driven Urban Forestry professional to lead a diverse and highly motivated team responsible for the management of forests and trees in parks and boulevards, administration of the private property Tree Management Bylaw, and the operation of Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reporting to the Manager, Park Planning and Forestry, the individual in this role has responsibility for strategic leadership, management and supervision of urban forestry and cemetery services.  This position will be accountable for the annual operations programs for forest management, trail maintenance, arboriculture and cemetery services.  This position also plays a key role in long term planning for forested parkland through the development of forest management plans and ultimately the implementation of these plans.  This role ensures effective delivery of this portfolio by providing strategic leadership to staff and through active engagement with the community we serve.

This pivotal role requires a professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to liaise effectively with internal clients, members of the community and other stakeholders on all matters related to urban forestry, development review, and administration of the Tree Management Bylaw.  This role is responsible for budgeting and work planning for operations and a number of annual capital programs.   Considerable independent leadership, innovation and judgement are required to plan and manage the key and exciting responsibilities of this role.

If you are able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a team focused, fast-pasted workplace designed to serve the community effectively while having fun, this opportunity may be for you. Superior leadership, interpersonal and communication skills are essential requirements complimented by a proven track record supervising staff and volunteers in the delivery of urban forestry initiatives.
