Starting Salary Range: $48,275 – 63,455

The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a team member to plan, develop and manage the Town’s Urban Forestry program.  Responsibilities for this position include serving in an advisory role for other Town staff members, builders and developers, community organizations, citizens, businesses, volunteer groups and the media. 

The Urban Forester will make recommendations regarding the ideal planting, maintenance and preservation of trees located in open spaces, landscaped areas, and pre and post-construction sites. 

This position is also responsible for developing and delivering community educational programs regarding urban forestry.  The employee in this position will manage and coordinate the planting, maintenance, removal, preservation and protection of trees located on Town property including, in and around parks and greenways, right-of-ways and other public grounds.  Work also includes serving as the staff liaison on the Urban Forestry Board.  

Minimum Requirements Include:  

possession of a valid NC pesticide applicator license or the desire and ability to obtain said license within six-months of hire.  

Desirable Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture or other related field is also required.  Preferred qualifications include at least 2-5 years of work experience as a Community or Urban Forester, Arborist or other related position.  Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience will be considered.  

Special Requirements:  

Must be a Registered Forester. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.   All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.  The Town offers an excellent benefits package.
