Forico is Tasmania's largest private forestry management company. At Forico we believe in sustainable forest management, with our forestry operations managing a comprehensive supply chain from seed to market. 

Forico’s Tree Improvement Program delivers leading genetic material for deployment in our reforestation program, Forico currently deploys E. nitens, E. globulus, and P. radiata. We are looking to appoint a full time Tree Improvement Technician based from our Ridgley Office in North West Tasmania. 

To be successful in this role you will require a good level of physical fitness as the position involves working both indoors and outdoors, completing manual tasks that may be labour intensive at times.

Duties Include:

• The establishment and maintenance of field trials and seed orchards
• Collection, recording and reporting of field data, both manually and electronically
• Tasks associated with the collection and processing of seed and pollen
• Weed control, pruning, general housekeeping and maintenance
• Assisting the Tree Improvement Manager with compilation of reports and recommendations regarding the direction of the Tree Improvement programs

Selection Criteria 
To be considered for this role you must possess the following attributes, experience and qualifications/licences:

• Strong safety focus
• Qualification/s in Agriculture/Horticulture or significant relevant industry experience will be highly regarded
• An understanding of horticulture and plant biology principles
• A high level of physical fitness
• Well-developed data management and general computer skills
• Observant, accurate with attention to detail
• Current Drivers Licence – Motor Vehicle
• Elevated work platform licence (Or ability to obtain)
• Chainsaw and faller licence (Or ability to obtain)
