Position : Treasury and Operations Accountant 

Company Profile:
Our client is an emerging forestry company engaged in the ownership of private timberlands, harvesting operations and manufacturing specialty wood products. The experienced management team has secured regionally-focused assets to deliver significant near-term returns and long-term viability, building on a base of solid timber supply. 

Having recently gone public, this 40 year-old company has experienced rapid growth due to a number of strategic acquisitions. 

Job Opportunity :
Reporting to the VP Finance, the Treasury/Operations Accountant will be responsible for operational cash and treasury management, working capital forecasting, treasury reporting, managing the banking platform, providing operational analysis on business units and support operations managers as required regarding budgeting, forecasting and cost reporting. 

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Treasury 
  • Forecast daily cash requirements and optimize cash position while managing the weekly liquidity needs of each operation. 
  • Understand and manage all aspects of cash flow including development and maintenance of a consolidated cash flow forecast model. 
  • Evaluate foreign currency requirements and inform VP Finance to execute FX trades. 
  • Actively contribute to corporate banking relationships. 
  • Accurately maintain administration of all bank accounts, including updating signatories and opening and closing of bank accounts. 
  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarter end treasury reports to senior management and board of Directors. 
  • Operational Accounting 
  • Provide detailed analysis on business units (sensitivity analysis on costs) 
  • Provide support to corporate managers regarding budgeting, forecasting, monthly cost analysis and reports. 
  • Assist in developing & monitor coherent and integrated KPIs and performance measures relevant to the operations. 
  • Provide monthly variance analysis on assets for management reporting purposes. 
  • Provide ad-hoc financial reports as required. 


Employment Qualifications :

  • 5-7 years of accounting work experience. 
  • Experience in treasury/operation management or banking is an asset. 
  • Post-secondary degree in Commerce/Business. 
  • Designated CGA, CMA or CA (or in final year). 
  • Previous Sage (Simply Accounting) experience. 
  • Forestry Industry experience is an asset. 
  • Experience working with online global banking platforms is an asset. 
  • Provide accounting support to other accounting groups in the Company including fielding problems/question and pro-actively providing support to provide solutions.

Compensation is commiserate on experience, plus benefits and a vacation package.
