Our client operates one of the most modern environmentally sustainable pulp and paper mills in the world. Their dedicated team members and contractors produce approximately 650,000 tonnes of high quality, elemental chlorine-free bleached kraft pulp annually.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the direction and output of the Technical Business Unit to ensure the goals and objectives of the company and Pulp Division Business Plan is achieved.
  • Customer service, product quality assurance, environmental operating approval compliance, millwide process improvements, laboratory services and control systems.
  • Coach, assist, and develop the process specialists and technicians in the Business Unit to be proactive in the pursuit of improving the pulpmill process.
  • Ensuring the Team is aware of external stakeholder issues and leading edge technologies, which could affect the efficiency of the company.
  • Work cooperatively with the other Service and Operating Business Units in the Pulp Division to ensure the corporate strategies of the organization are achieved.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Chemical Engineering Degree or Chemist preferred.
  • 10 – 15 years of technical experience in pulp and paper would be an asset.
  • Experience in the management of pulp quality, customer service, environmental compliance and process optimization.
  • Proven leadership
  • Highly developed critical thinking
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Involvement in strategic planning, budgeting and cost control
