REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL FORESTER

Position Title:  Staff Registered Professional Forester (RPF) - full time.

Work Location(s):  Primarily Humboldt County, but throughout Northern California.

Summary:  Provides timber management related services for company clients including timber inventories, THP and NTMP preparation and completion of various permits and property assessment reports. Some projects require supervision of technicians. Technical writing and report preparation skills are essential. The successful applicant will be required to work out of NRM’s Eureka office.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Property management and client interface.
  • THP/NTMP design, layout, and preparation.
  • Log sales and contract administration.
  • Timber inventory design, cruising, and marking
  • Supervision of forest technicians.

Other duties may be assigned.                

Qualifications:  Must be a RPF with the State of California in good standing. Must maintain a valid driver license and remain eligible to operate company vehicles- trucks and/or all-terrain vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines. Must have knowledge of THP preparation and writing, familiarity with the California FPR, understanding of silvicultural methods, timber harvesting systems, road construction and reforestation operations, excellent communication skills, computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs, GIS based software, and commonly used field equipment. Also, must have a high degree of self motivation, excellent organizational skills, good decision making skills, and a positive attitude.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Forestry or related field from four-year college or university and at least two years’ experience as a RPF in a professional setting. Preference will be given to past experience in timber management, THP preparation, and inventory work.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
