General Directive: Responsible for being an effective team member in planning and implementing Hancock Forest Management's silvicultural program and provide assistance with the timber harvesting program. Hancock Forest Management has the objective of providing a reforestation program that meets or exceed all laws and SFI® objectives and achieves target investment returns for the client. 
 
Scope:  
  • NE Oregon Region encompasses roughly 300,000 acres 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HFM staff and HTRG staff 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with silviculture contractors, and harvesting contractors 
  • Knowledgeable in areas of forest silviculture, pesticide regulations, harvest operations 
  • Implement as part of a team the strategic plan based on Modeled (CPMP) outputs  
Job Dimensions: 
  • Implement as part of a team the NE Oregon Region silviculture program and ensure quality control objectives are met 
  • Provide ground reconnaissance to be used in the development of strategic harvest planning 
  • Assist in the development of annual property budgets and subsequent forecasts as needed 
  • Provide Geographical Information Systems (GIS) support for silviculture related operations 
  • Reports to - NE Oregon Silvicultural Manager

    Specific Duties:  
     
  • Design permit and administrate silviculture contracts 
  • Provide support for the  planting  and  growing of  seedlings  necessary  to  supply  NE Oregon  tree  farms, annually
  • Provide support, in a team environment, for the prescription and implementation of chemical and mechanical site prep activities on 3,000 to 10,000 acres, annually
  • Participant in the Northern Inland Division safety program
  • Assist with the development of harvest plans
  • Aid in the administration and implementation of layout for harvest units on the ground
  • Aid in the population of the harvest planning tool (FOPS) with strategic harvest plans
  • Manage and update GIS data for silviculture and harvest activities
  • Responsible for implementation of SFI® standards for silviculture
  • Manage and update GIS data for silviculture and harvest activities
  • Support other HNRG groups such as Acquisitions, Client Account Group, etc. as needed
  • Special projects as requested or needed
  • Ensure compliance with all Oregon and Washington Forest Practice regulations  
Requirements: 
  • A bachelor’s degree in Forest Management (or related field such as Forest Engineering/ Forest Science) or equivalent experience is required
  • Strong working knowledge of both Oregon and Washington forest practice regulations
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computer software, with emphasis in ArcMap, Excel, Access, and Word
  • Must be team player, able to understand and work with others needs and with different personalities 
  • Must be highly motivated and entrepreneurial
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
