Silviculture Assistant Supervisor / Planner

Term: May 1st to Nov 30th 2018; 40 hours per week

Location: Debert, Nova Scotia

Under the direction of the Silviculture & Process Improvement Team Leader using electronic data collection equipment complete pre and post treatment assessments of various ongoing silviculture treatments including, planting; spacing; competition control; regeneration and plantations assessments. Monitor safety and environmental performance on operations ensuring company policies, government regulations and EMS/SFI requirements are met.  Complete required documentation. Assist in supervision of ongoing operations as required.

Assist in silviculture planning process by identifying and mapping areas suitable for future treatment.

Qualifications:

Student of a recognized Forest Technicians or Bachelor of Science in Forestry program. Experience working in Nova Scotia forest conditions and silviculture operations an asset. Must have reliable vehicle capable of operating on forest access roads in Central Nova Scotia.
