Clergue Forest Management Inc. (CFMI) is a forest management company located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

CFMI is looking for a Silviculture & Operations Forester to join its management team.

CMFI is the Cooperative Sustainable Forest License Holder (SFL) for the Algoma Forest with five shareholder companies comprised of Domtar, Boniferro Mill Works, Tembec, Midway Lumber, and Columbia Forest Products.

CFMI is responsible for forest management planning and silviculture activities on a land base of approximately 1 million hectares.

The successful candidate will lead the planning and implementation of the CFMI silviculture program and participate directly with Partner Company and CFMI staff in the planning and implementation of the forest management program.

Qualifications:

• Degree or Diploma in Forestry

• Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in Ontario or the qualifications to obtain an RPF in Ontario preferred.

• Comprehensive knowledge of silvicultural practices in the Boreal and Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Forest Regions including a superior understanding of forest ecosystems and the impact of silviculture practices on those ecosystems.

• Excellent understanding and comprehension of Forest Management Planning

• A minimum of 5 years silviculture and/or operational experience

• Proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems, Microsoft office suite, database creation and maintenance as well as other computer applications

• Comprehensive knowledge of forest operations in the Boreal and Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Forest Regions.

• Knowledgeable of Ontario’s forest legislation, regulations and policies (e.g. Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Forest Management Planning Manual, Forest Information Manual, Forest Operations and Silviculture Manual).

• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

• Excellent oral and written communications skills

• Excellent presentation, negotiation and public speaking skills

• Valid Ontario Class G License
