Northland Forest Products Ltd is now recruiting:     Senior Management Position - Woodlands

Northland Forest Products is seeking a flexible, well-rounded and team orientated person to fill an exciting, multifaceted role within our Management team.  Reporting to Senior Executive, this individual will work as part of a team responsible for supplying fibre to our Fort McMurray Sawmill, while upholding progressive, sustainable forest management practices in a safe and cost effective manner meeting quality, government regulatory and certification requirements.  Northland Forest Products Ltd is located in Fort McMurray, Alberta.  Established in 1964, Northland Forest Products Ltd currently produces approximately 90 million fbm annually of high quality dimensional lumber for commodity and value-added domestic, US and International markets. This state-of-the-art sawmill/planer mill complex also produces over 50,000 ODMT of chips on a single shift basis.  Chips are sold to Alberta Pacific Forest Industry Inc and other by-products are sold locally and to the oil industry.  Currently, Northlands directly employs 65 workers on a permanent basis and an additional 200 seasonally in harvest and silviculture operations. 

As a Senior Manager in woodlands your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing business opportunities with stakeholders in the region

  • Developing budgets for all NFPL forestry programs and other areas of opportunity

  • Developing/ implementing  and providing direction for all Long and Short term woodlands plans for planning, harvesting, hauling, silviculture , GIS, and Land-use

  • Oversee all facets of the woodlands program including supervision of woodlands staff and operations as well as scale yard to ensure all regulatory requirements are met

  • Negotiating Woodlands Operations contracts and implementing agreements

  • Liaise with government at local and provincial levels

  • Participate in consultation  with Indigenous and local communities

  • Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

  • Participate on Multi-stakeholder committee’s as required

  • Full participation and compliance with company policies and procedures

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a post-secondary forestry program and must be eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Professional Foresters (CAPF) or College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists (CAPFT).  A self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential.  Experience in various forest certification standards, in particular SFI, ISO and FSC would be considered assets.
