The Company:

Our client, a Canadian forest products’ company located in Nelson, BC is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team. This well-established company supplies big name clients with high end wood products. With over 20 years in the industry, this multi-entity company offers stability and the opportunity to plant roots in one of the most stunning locations in BC. The Position:

Reporting to the Owner and Operations Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the finance and accounting team, as well as the full range of operational and financial accounting. The successful candidate will be a coach and mentor for two direct reports in AP/AR & Payroll. 

The Key accountabilities for this role include:

• Preparing and reporting timely financial information
• Overseeing cost accounting functions & working closely with sales department to provide financial guidance pertaining to product sales, importing and/or exporting
• Preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements and preparing operating analysis reports
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts to general ledger
• Making sure functional controls are in place to provide accurate coding and payment of operating expenditures
• Overseeing the accounts payable and payroll functions

Required Experience and Attributes:

This position is best suited to a candidate that has forestry or strong manufacturing based accounting in their background. The complexities of cost accounting and multiple entities call for at least 2 years of experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate will be a leader and hands on type of Accountant that has the flexibility to perform tasks of all levels, from journal entries & bank reconciliations to financial statements.

The following would be considered requirements:

• Recognized Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA)
• Demonstrated experience with cost accounting 
• Full cycle operational based (manufacturing/forestry) accounting experience
• Experience managing employees
• Experience with multi-entity companies

The following would be considered assets 

• Sage 50 Quantum experience

Compensation

Compensation:

- Salary TBD
- 2-4 weeks’ vacation depending on experience
- 100% premium paid: Dental/Medical/Paramedicals (Chiro etc)
- MSP Paid
