Sawmill Supervisor (Management & Executives)

JOB DESCRIPTION 

As part of the mill management team and reporting to the Production Superintendent, you are a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for safety, employee relations, quality, production, costs, and grade recovery.

The successful candidate will supervise in the Sawmill on a three shift basis and be prepared for other exciting and challenging assignments, particularly as knowledge and experience in the business increases.

Key Accountabilities

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Ensure compliance with OH&S Regulations, WFP Policies, Site Rules, and other best practices, with regards to employees and contractors working across the site.
  • Develop, implement and maintain strategies and processes to obtain ongoing and continuous improvement in operational safety.
  • Co-ordinate and manage projects as required, including costing, vendor selection, demolition, installation and start up.

The successful candidate will be a credible self-starter, possess a demonstrable record of continuous improvement and have the capacity to think and work outside of the ‘box’.

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • A strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for British Columbia and the Collective Agreement are required.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong personal commitment to safe work practices, a sound work ethic, excellent communication skills (both written and oral), working knowledge of Microsoft Office, lumber grading certificate with strong knowledge of coastal grades/species, and supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
