Red Seal Recruiting Solutions Ltd., is looking for a Sawmill Supervisor for Chemainus, BC. We are a specialized trades and industrial management recruitment company. 

We have a challenging yet exciting job opportunity as a Sawmill Supervisor for our client located in the beautiful town of Chemainus, BC! The successful candidate will be reporting to the Production Superintendent and will be responsible for employee relations, costs, safety, quality, production and grade recovery.

Education:

Certificate in Lumber Grading with strong knowledge of coastal species/grades

Experience:

Supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing settings is a must

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for British Columbia and the Collective Agreement
  • Must be strongly commited to a sound work ethic and safe work practices
  • Should have a noticeable record of continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Capable of thinking and working outside the box
  • Knowledgeable in using Microsoft Office
  • Must be a self-starter

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop and implement processes and strategies to attain ongoing and continuous improvement in operational safety
  • Mange and coordinate projects as required, including start up, vendor selection, costing, installation and demolition
  • Guarantee compliance with site rules, company policies, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations  and other best practices, with regards to employees and contractors working across the site
