Sawmill Superintendent (Management & Executives)

Reporting to the Sawmill Operations  Manager and as an important member of the management team, your primary responsibility will be to provide leadership and direction to the operation’s supervisory personnel. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting the Mill Manager in meeting the established safety, environmental, quality, cost and production objectives of the operation.

You are a highly motivated individual who recognizes the value of a team-oriented approach in the performance of this challenging position. You bring to the job an exceptional safety record and an extensive background in sawmilling and lumber processing.

This position is located at the Chemainus Sawmill Division in Chemainus, BC.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

You possess a minimum of 10 years of sawmill industry supervisory experience with an excellent working knowledge of sawmill functions and equipment capabilities. Your experience has provided you with an excellent knowledge of all species of coastal fibre, log breakdown and domestic and off shore markets.

You have an exceptional record in safety leadership, a good working knowledge of applicable occupational health & safety regulations and a willingness to work with Western Forest Products in reaching its safety, environmental, quality, cost and production objectives. Experience working in a union environment is a strong asset.

Amongst your peers and those who report to you, you are considered to be a dynamic leader with excellent communication and problem solving skills. Finally, well developed computer skills are a necessary requirement for this position.
