Job Overview

Our client, 3 hours north of Toronto, has an immediate opportunity for a Sawmill Manager to join their team.

Employment Responsibilities:

Ensure application of the highest Safety standards to achieve superior health and safety results
Leadership that results in an effective and positive operation and employee collaboration and ownership of results
Institute and maintain progressive employee training and development programs and a succession plan for the operation of the mill
Manage all manpower and scheduling requirements
Positive, constructive attitude always, especially when the going gets tough
Prioritizes hands-on approach to management, but strong administrative skills
Prime mover focused on taking direct action while motivating a broader team
Entrepreneurial and committed to the long-term success of the company
Analytical approach to wood processing and related workplace functions

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in forestry, sawmilling, wood processing, engineering, or extensive work experience in a leadership capacity in one of these fields
A minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in forest products manufacturing operations
Demonstrated progression in leadership roles in a manufacturing setting
Management experience in hardwood lumber manufacturing operations
High level of understanding of hardwood lumber grades and products
Strong project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities
Excellent analytical skills with respect to performance and production
Working understanding of budgets, cash flow, and financial statements

Wage: $90,000 – $95,000/yearly – negotiable, depending on experience
