David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a Sawmill Operation, to recruit a Lead Millwright based in Northern Alberta.

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Lead Millwright will provide direction, guidance and input to Operations while promoting the company's core values. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Sawmill operations and procedures, results-driven and have a superior commitment to health and safety.

The Role:

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of equipment to ensure optimum mechanical performance of the facility;
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve mill operations through process or technology;
  • Comprehend diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures;
  • Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment;
  • Candidate must promote company safety policies and lockout procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of 5 years' Sawmill experience;
  • Journeyman or inter-provincial certification is a must;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and trouble-shooting skills;
  • A proven commitment to safety above everything else;
  • Experience in both production and maintenance is preferred;
  • Exposure to high-tech environments is preferred;
  • Able and willing to work and live in a remote area.
