David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a Sawmill Operation, to recruit a Lead Hand Electrician based in Northern Alberta.

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Lead Hand Electrician will lead by example when it comes to up-holding the company's core values, will be committed to producing quality work and dedicated to environmental sustainability. This individual must be self-motivated, a proven team player and possess a "get it done" attitude and outlook.

The Role:

  • Responsible for all electrical and process optimization equipment on site, including all PLC programming, electrical distribution, and capital project work, as required;
  • Responsible for troubleshooting equipment failures and performing necessary repairs;
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve mill operations through process or technology;
  • Complete scheduled shutdowns and maintenance within specified timeframes and within budget;
  • Candidate must promote company safety policies and lockout procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of 5 years' Sawmill experience;
  • Journeyman or inter-provincial certification is a must;
  • Knowledgeable in electronics, VFD's, PLC's, network systems, computer and optimizing systems;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and trouble-shooting skills;
  • A results-oriented team player who isn't afraid to take initiative;
  • A strong commitment to safety at all times;
  • Experience in both production and maintenance is preferred;
  • Exposure to high-tech environments is preferred;
  • Able and willing to work and live in a remote area.
