The Sawmill Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for having a strong understanding of industrial plant processes and equipment. You should have experience overseeing sawmill design projects and operations.

Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
• Researching, designing, evaluating, and coordinating the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements
• Drawing production and design on a wide range of sawmill related projects, including new operations and the upgrading and modification of existing sawmill operations
• Providing practical conceptual design and detailing of mill equipment
• Redesigning and modifying existing equipment
• Providing design, detailing, and certification services
• Assisting the team with preliminary and detail design tasks
• Preparing quantity and construction cost estimates
• Assisting in developing engineering specifications
• Problem solving
• Investigating technical problems
• Identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
• Assisting with the implementation of new standards aimed at increasing productivity and safety through solid modeling best practices, drawing standards, release procedures, and regulatory audits
• Performing all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project

NOTE: Some fieldwork and travel is required

Training and Skill Set:

• Mechanical Engineering college degree
• CAD software experience
• Knowledge of the construction industry
• Sawmill experience would be an asset
• 5+ years of Engineering experience
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge
• Computer skills needed (MS Office)
• Exemplary communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
• Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation and objection handling skills
• Self-motivation – Taking initiative to make improvements
• Prioritization skills to manage a multitude of tasks ensuring deadlines are met
