Resource Forester Assistant (Forester)

These are training positions. Selected candidates will be expected to relocate and/or accept promotion at the discretion of the Forestry Division to meet Division’s goals and needs.

Assists regional forestry personnel with private landowner requests, urban forestry, fire suppression, forest inventory and state land management, preparation and presentation of school and public programs, and other general public contacts. Records, compiles and analyzes forest stand information using portable data recorders, personal computers, ArcGIS and other software. Recommends forest management prescriptions based on information collected. Participates in formal training and professional development programs. Limited supervision of technical staff on a project basis. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Forest Management; or a closely related natural resources degree and direct forestry work experience.
