Job Description:

Georgia-Pacific has taken several steps to provide assurance to our customers that we are responsibly sourcing wood and fiber for our pulp, paper and wood products operations, including certification of our wood and fiber sourcing practices; an independent analysis for controlled wood risk in the basins where we operate; and implementation of chain of custody programs.

We are seeking a Resource / GIS Forester, reporting to the Forest Certification Program Manager within the Wood and Fiber Supply Sustainability Office.  The position will be in New Augusta, Mississippi which is near Hattiesburg, MS.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with forest landowners
  • Developing and updating forest management plans, GIS databases and forest monitoring documents
  • Using GIS and remote sensing in support of Georgia-Pacific Sustainability Group
  • Collaborating with field procurement teams
  • Actively participating in group strategy discussions and planning with Georgia-Pacific’s procurement and sustainability teams
  • Coordinating reviews and analysis of landowner programs

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Forestry from an accredited Forestry school
  • Must have or be willing to acquire registered forester license in Mississippi and Alabama
  • Must have valid US Driver’s license for local travel 
  • Willingness to devote equal time to field and office responsibilities
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite to include, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Experience with GIS mapping and geodatabase management
