Description: 

The Reliability Engineer will provide proactive technical guidance for the reliable operation of plant machinery as well as assist in reactive technical troubleshooting of day to day operations. Perform reliability studies on existing equipment and recommend needed improvements to management in the areas of equipment philosophies, strategies and best practices for asset productivity. This position focuses on enhancing equipment reliability through analysis versus first response, day-to-day troubleshooting of failed equipment. Provide best practice reliability training to all plant personnel. Ensure our CMMS is set up and being utilized to provide effective and efficient work capture, work execution and work history.  

Responsibilities: 

  • To assist the Wood Procurement Manager in the development of a wood procurement strategy and policy which includes, but is not limited to, receiving policies, payment systems, inventory methods, etc.

  • Provide leadership, technical direction and coordination with all departments to develop and evolve programs and personnel to ensure improvements and sustainability of asset and process reliability.

  • Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance, Risk Based Inspections and other best practice reliability techniques.

  • Apply engineering theory, practices and principles to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluations.

  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data and uptime data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.

  • Manage the predictive maintenance programs.  (Lubrication, Vibration, Thermography, etc.)

  • Continually promote consistency by standardizing procedures/equipment/operations.

  • Provide technical support on all phases of machinery turnarounds from work scope definition, through planning, execution and documentation.

  • Create and maintain documentation, files, procedures and drawings in order to ensure integrity and continuity of all process equipment.

  • Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment “fitness for use” criteria and specifications to optimize equipment/system reliability.

  • Provide technical direction to resolve field related problems around rotating equipment, including coaching and training as needed.

  • Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics: investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially effecting productivity and processes.

  • Educate all employees at all levels on the principles of Asset Reliability.

  • Help to train and motivate all workers to record all work performed to ensure a comprehensive history of all work so that deficient areas can be identified and improved.

  • Establish, maintain, support and communicate key performance indicators supporting overall production reliability and efficiency. 

Requirements: 

  • Two year technical degree required. BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Significant Reliability systems experience considered.

  • 2.5+ years of manufacturing experience in the areas of reliability methods and techniques.

  • Capability to lead teams to achieve desired results.

  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in CMMS systems.

  • Knowledgeable and certified in predictive maintenance technologies. (Vibration, Thermographics, acoustics, lubrication, etc.

  • Thorough knowledge of computer software including spreadsheets, databases and statistical packages.

  • Knowledge of process control and automation desirable.

  • Written and oral communications skills.

  • Solid decision making abilities. 

Other Key Competencies: 

  • Organize and plan work in advance, deciding on the most efficient or convenient manner in which to do assigned tasks or projects.

  • Carefully review figures, computations, reports, etc. to ensure they are accurate.

  • Verbally transmit ideas, instructions and information so they are clearly understood by others in formal or informal face-to-face.

  • Competence in statistics required; PSC, Six Sigma, ISO 9000 desired. 

EHS Requirements: 

  • Monitor air and water discharges from site to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and monitor process operations for evidence of excessive use of fuel, water, and other natural resources.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and corporate environmental and safety regulations, and permit issues (air, water, etc.).  Ensure that proper documentation is completed for any safety or environmental required monitoring in your area of responsibility.  Report inconsistencies as appropriate.

  • Attend all federal, state and company mandated training, read and comply with Job Risk Analysis (JRA) (formally known as JHA - Job Hazard Analysis or JSA - Job Safety Analysis) information that applies to areas in which you work, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the job, and report /or correct any unsafe condition that you may observe.  Report all injuries to your supervisor immediately.

  • Adhere to all Safety & Environmental Training.

  • Be aware of and know how to access the company EHS Policy, the Minimum Mandatory Standards and Requirements (MMSR’s) and company Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System (EHSMS) procedures.  Comply with MMSRs and company EHSMS procedures and report all non-conformances to your supervisor or manager.

  • Incorporate environmental, health and safety requirements into every day decision making.

  • Assist as required in the development and administration of environmental, safety and health policies and programs. 

Compensation

Wage: $80-100k/year depending on experience
