Region Forester 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Develop harvest plans and schedules for fee and private timber tracts to assure proper management and harvest of timber. 
  • Oversee price estimates and bidding procedures on raw materials. 
  • Negotiate cut and haul contracts for cutting controlled timber with logging contractors. 
  • Inspect vendor cutting operation contract compliance and close contracts when completed. 
  • Monitor contractor compliance with local, state and federal laws and best manufacturing practices. 
  • Maintain active contracts with landowners, local and state officials, competitors and suppliers to stay abreast of market conditions and to improve business plan. 
  • Perform basic forest management functions, including planning, scheduling harvest, site preparation prescriptions, regeneration and mid-rotation cultural activities. 
  • May train or supervise lower level forestry positions. 
  • Communicate and work with peers and superiors to achieve desired goals.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications: 
  • BS Degree in Forestry or equivalent experience supplemented by degree in related field. 
  • Registered Forester certification desired. 
  • 4 years minimum experience in advanced forestry techniques and assignments  
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities  
  • Must be able to regulate and communicate professionally with wood suppliers, private landowners and state and federal agencies.
  •  Must be able to work flexible schedules
  •  Must have a valid drivers license; frequent travel required.
