Job Description: The purchasing supervisor leads our team of warehouse attendants and is responsible for the procurement of all the supplies and parts to service our four sawmills, chip plant and custom chip loading facilities. As part of the S&R management team you will report to senior management and collaborate with our mill department heads to ensure the timely and economical delivery of the parts and services required by our operations.

The purchasing supervisor is expected to evaluate and negotiate with vendors to setup a supply chain management program. You will be responsible for maintaining appropriate inventories of parts and supplies such that they are readily available when needed. The Purchaser maintains our warehouse database and controls spending by monitoring the quality of goods purchased, warranties and service agreements with our business partners; and takes corrective measures when products or vendors do not meet our expectations.

Qualifications: To be a successful purchasing supervisor at S&R sawmills you will need to be self-motivated with great communication and problem solving skills. Due to the large volumes of supplies required by our operation you must have proven negotiation skills and experience to perform your duties and represent S&R in a professional manner. Formal purchasing training and accreditation are preferred as are years of experience as a purchaser. Heavy industry or forest industry experience are an asset.
