THE COMPANY:

Our client is a privately-owned forest products company with a number of Pulp, Paper and Lumber manufacturing plants located throughout New Brunswick and the Northeastern US. Their primary pulp mill is located in western New Brunswick.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

They are currently in need of an effective and experienced Pulp Mill Superintendent to continue driving their production and profits.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for: -The management of all aspects of the fiber manufacturing processes to include safety, quality, environmental, production, cost, and people resources to achieve or exceed targeted performance levels.
-Coordinating activities with other departments to improve mill performance maximize profitability.
-Establishing systems for tracking and managing operational expenses and performance.

The Pulp Mill Superintendent spends 50% of his/her time in an office environment preparing reports, attending meetings, and developing plans to exceed performance objectives. The rest of the time, she/he is working in a mill environment providing support and direction to direct reports, monitoring overall mill activities, encouraging safe behaviors and promoting safe work practices throughout the mill.

EXPERIENCE: In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

-A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a Pulp Mill and Bleach Plant operations.
-A demonstrated record of Safety commitment and results.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels.
-Demonstrated leadership focused on accountability and results.
-Thorough knowledge of pulping process and operations. Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and their application in driving deliberate improvement initiatives. Bilingual candidates are preferred. If not, fluent English and some French acceptable.

EDUCATION:

Degree in Chemical Engineering.
