POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor (lumber services) is responsible for all lumber activities including receiving, inspection, packaging, shipping and inventory control. The incumbent’s role is also to ensure optimum employee performance and making sure products are delivered on time and according to customer’s standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize labour for required lumber yard activities;
  • Coordinate his employees' vacation and payroll;
  • Communicate with Production Manager and Sales for production requirements;
  • Communicate with Production Manager for lumber shipping and receiving operations;
  • Manage the lumber shipping supplies inventory (barcodes, wrap, etc.);
  • Manage lumber inventory (white, treated, cull);
  • Apply employee handbook and positive discipline process;
  • Ensure the TRD requirements are respected in the lumber storage yards;
  • Ensure that products are acceptable for shipment, including proper labels, wrapped product, appearance and quality;
  • Ensure the yard is organized and the proper housekeeping is made;
  • Ensure all work is performed safely to applicable codes, standards and to Stella-Jones health and safety manual;
  • Communicate with shipping and receiving office operations to coordinate shipments;
  • Is available for on-call emergencies;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience;
  • Supervisory experience;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Clean driver’s license abstract;
  • WHMIS.
