The Production Supervisor at this softwood sawmill in North Carolina position is responsible for supervising the overall production operation of the sawmill. Softwood sawmill experience required with hardwood experience a plus.

Wage: Wages $20-$25/hr. or around $60-$80k+/year plus benefits
Education Required: BS Degree in Engineering preferred
Years Experience Required:  5+ year’s previous experience in lumber manufacturing supervision. Softwood lumber experience required, hardwood experience a plus.

Requirements: 

  • 5+ years previous experience in lumber manufacturing supervision. Softwood lumber experience required, hardwood experience a plus.
  • Ability to operate all softwood sawmill equipment. Understanding of dry kilns and planer a plus.
  • Manufacturing management experience, with a good attitude, ability to lead others successfully, and able to see big picture.
  • Proficiency in use of computers and quick adaptability to software. MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Electrical and Mechanical experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge of the lumber industry, lumber math, and lumber grades. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor production of sawmill to include lumber produced, down time, run time and quality control.
  • Hiring and training of workers for sawmill positions.
  • Schedule and supervise all maintenance/repairs of equipment, machinery and boiler.
  • Oversee repairs of breakdowns for most efficient and effective return to operation.
  • Assist other departments in repairs of breakdowns, equipment maintenance, modifications and new construction projects.
  • Be familiar with and capable of operating all sawmill machinery and equipment.
  • Enforcement of work rules and safety policies of the Company.
  • Keep record of hours worked weekly by sawmill employees and report to payroll manager. 
  • Awareness of cost of supplies and repairs and ability to minimize expenses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Day shift schedule 7am-5:30pm M-F and Saturday 7am-noon
