PNG Forest Products Limited (PNGFP), a uniquely diversified and progressive industry leader in a number of fields based in Bulolo, Papua New Guinea, seeks to appoint a Production Manager - Sawmill.

PNGFP 
The Company's production facilities in Bulolo encompass the manufacture of an extensive range of plywood and timber products made from plantation pine. This includes CCA and ACQ pressure-treated products, including power poles, prefabricated building kits, furniture, and modular bridges. The Company adds further value to its products through the sale of houses under its NiuHomes brand. PNGFP also has a sales presence in Australia to support its plywood export market, and sales of bridges under its NiuBridge brand.

Purpose of Role:

• Responsible for all production activities at the Sawmill, Kilns, Planing Mill, and Treatment Plant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Management of all Sawmill and Planing Mill production activities including timber processing, timber treatment, and kiln drying.
• Maintain optimum production and recovery rates.
• Liaise with the Resource Department regarding log supply.
• Liaise with sales staff regarding customer orders.
• Co-ordinate and direct all senior supervisors and foremen in their duties.
• Ensure continuous supply of all operating materials.
• Liaise with maintenance staff.
• Ensure staff training is adequate.
• Ensure company employee policies and OHS procedures are adhered to.

Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in sawmill production activities, including 2 years at management level.
• Excellent working knowledge of timber processing.
• Appropriate level of education.
• Good work ethic.
• Must have high attention to detail and a "hands on" approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, having the ability to work with both management and staff.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word / Microsoft Excel).
