Nicholson Manufacturing Ltd., a world leader in design and manufacture of debarkers and Madill Logging Equipment for the forest products industry has an opening for a qualified PRODUCTION LEAD.

JOB SUMMARY
Oversee the Madill Value Stream production operations. Responsible for coordinating production activities to best satisfy the demands of our internal and external customers with safety and quality being the main objectives. Working with the Value Stream Manager, develop the Team to increase work flow along with quality to allow the revenue stream to grow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Production Lead is a leader and is there to support the team members.
• Main responsibility is to ensure to keep the process running and that the team is delivering the highest possible value back to their customers, e.g. manufacturing parts and providing services to the quality standards expected by their internal and external customers. For this, everybody must clearly understand their customers’ requirements.
• Responsible to support the team and remove obstacles to their productivity while enabling them to do the work themselves:
o Ready to jump in anytime there is a problem.
o Always watching the team to provide assistance or relief.
• Schedule personnel as required to achieve schedule.
• Ensure adherence to production schedule & KANBAN process flow.
• Ensure adherence to company policies.
• Meet productivity goals and strive to attain objectives set for the Team.
• Maximize Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
• Insure that safe and standard work procedures (SSOPs) are followed.
• Direct workforce through coaching, training, and leading the development of our Lean culture.
• Determine training requirements for individual employees. Responsible to provide or coordinate training and cross-training. To ensure that no one person is solely responsible for any task or activity so that all team members are able to continue working effectively when any members of the team is away.
• Cover absenteeism and vacation as needed.
• Coordinate in-house training portion of apprenticeship program – serves as mentor to apprentices.
• Ensure that finished machines meet our quality standards.
• Ensure that finished products comply with engineering drawings.
• Insure availability of material and supplies to all processes as needed.
• Always available for ongoing continuous improvement projects.
• Work closely with other Team Leads and other members of the Madill Value Stream

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / knowledge required:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Supervisory/leadership skills
• Overall understanding of manufacturing processes
• Understanding of engineering drawing and documentation
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Experience required:
• Basic knowledge of machining practices
• Basic knowledge of Fabrication and welding processes
• Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly processes
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• 5 years of Manufacturing Management experience preferred
• Background with utilizing lean tools, 5S, A3, OEE
• Knowledge of how ERP systems work (Basic MRP knowledge required)
