Hancock Forest Management has an opening for a Production Forester in our Orting, WA office.

General Directive: Responsible for harvest unit and associated transportation systems planning layout, budgeting, permitting, and contract supervision.

Scope:
* North Cascades Washington region encompasses over 203,000 acres
* Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, concerned stake holders, HFM staff, and HTRG staff
* Develop and maintain relationships with road maintenance, road construction, and harvesting contractors
* Knowledgeable in areas of harvest layout and permitting
* Knowledgeable in areas of road maintenance and new road construction
* Knowledgeable in areas of harvest operations, log manufacturing, log sorting, and log quality control

Job Dimensions:
* Harvest unit and associated transportation systems planning
* Harvest unit layout, administration, and contract supervision
* Development of annual property budgets and forecasts
* SFI compliance
* Risk Management
* Basic mapping tasks with ArcMap
* Other duties as assigned

Specific Duties:
* Provide direction and oversight for the management of harvest unit layout
* Manage harvest unit and road construction bid and negotiation processes
* Contract administration and compliance of harvesting and road construction projects; actively support Log Quality Control program
* Active involvement in the North Cascades safety program
* Active involvement in the Muckleshoot Initiatives
* Assist with the development of budgets and forecasts
* Implementation of SFI standards
* Support HNRG groups such as Acquisitions, Client Account Group, etc.
* Special projects as requested or needed

Job Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in Forest Management or related field such as Forest Engineering/Forest Science
* Demonstrate organizational skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft computer software, with emphasis in Excel, Access, and Word preferred.
* Knowledge of using Lotus Notes or similar e-mail program
* Knowledgeable in GIS and ArcMap
* Team player, be able to understand and work with other's needs and with different personalities
* Highly motivated and entrepreneurial
* Strong oral and written communication skills
