Who is Georgia-Pacific?

We are seeking a Procurement Forester for the Coos Bay, Oregon facility. The Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization is key to ensuring that Georgia Pacific's 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. W&FS sources its wood for the Coos Bay sawmill from a mixture of public and private lands.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Procuring in excess of 100 mmbf annually the Coos Bay, the W&FS Procurement Forester position will participate in wood procurement operations in Coos Bay, Oregon for our sawmill Building Products facility. The Procurement Forester position will be responsible for working with mill counterparts to create real long term value.

Other responsibilities of the Procurement Forester include:

  • Participate in the development, ongoing review, and execution of mill sourcing strategies based on cost, mill specifications and quality.
  • Develop a culture where safe work practices, safe work conditions and environmental compliance are core values, striving for compliance excellence.
  • Manage all levels of cost which include Wood & Fiber Transportation, Overhead and Administration
  • Meet strategic wood inventory targets.
  • Provide accurate wood cost forecasts and volumes as needed short term by mill counterparts.
  • Participate in long term wood cost forecasts for long term strategic planning.
  • Dealing with Government Representatives and Industry Trade Associations to represent GP’s best interests.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or completion of Bachelor's Degree by May 2018
  • Experience dealing with forestry related guidelines, policies and government law and regulations
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook

  • Wood and fiber procurement experience
  • Five (5) years’ work experience in forestry and/or forest products industry
