Description: 

The Plywood Production Supervisor will be responsible for supervision of plywood production crew, which includes, but is not limited to: safety, product quality, training and development of hourly employees, department workflow and manpower utilization, communication and administering company policies and procedures.  Must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.  Requires a strong commitment to and passion for safety and achieving a zero incident goal. Shift – night shift: 6pm to 4am. Work is mostly outside and not in a plant.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates log species, quality and production scheduling for the plywood plant.  Must have plywood supervison experience.
  • Schedules hours of work for manpower and use of various machines to efficiently process incoming log production. 
  • Troubleshoots and performs corrective action and repairs to prevent equipment of system failure.
  • Able to problem solve, build employee environment, and handle employee issues.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, multi-task, meet deadlines, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Resolving grievances at the lowest level, controlling absenteeism, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Adheres to all established safety standards, and performs duties in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):

  • College Degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function preferred.
  • Essential qualifications include proven skills in a production environment with an understanding of manufacturing practices, excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with people and to facilitate change and growth in a team environment. 
  • Must be available to work a flexible work schedule (to include swing, graveyard, and relief shift work) in a production-manufacturing environment. 
  • Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience in log preperation preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively lead, motivate, and develop employees.
  • Working knowledge of all species of logs preferred. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to record information accurately and timely.
  • Must have strong safety program knowledge and experience.
  • Must have a good safety and attendance record history.  
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word.

Good analytical and problem solving skills with a well- rounded understanding of forest products industry and manufacturing processes.

Compensation

Wage: $45-62k/year depending on experience
