The Project Manager in South America will lead and coordinate the installation and operation of a hardwood Dry Kiln facility in South America. They will be responsible in managing the installation of a new hardwood lumber dry kiln facility and manage the operation after it has been built.

Years Experience Required:  Green field sawmill experience in South America. 15 years of sawmill experience. College graduate from forestry, engineering, manufacturing or management disciplines preferred. 

Employment Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the construction of the hardwood sawmill dry kiln facility construction and operation.
  • To ensure quality standards, meeting production deadline and minimize overheads
  • To work closely with Sales General Manager for fulfilling customer orders
  • To hire staff, provide leadership and to assist them in functioning as a team
  • To uphold corporate governance and a front line budget controller
  • To report to the directors of company on a daily basis
  • To provide timely problem solving decisions and manage the operation according to the group’s business strategy and corporate directives 

Job Requirements:

  •  4 year minimum college graduate from forestry, engineering, manufacturing or management disciplines.
  • Green field sawmill experience in South America. 15 years of sawmill experience. College graduate from forestry, engineering, manufacturing or management disciplines preferred.
  • South American hardwood lumber management experience
  • Thorough knowledge of hardwood lumber grading, log yield, sawmill and dry kiln manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of 3rd party resources such as CITES that are designed to serve rating systems and forest certification.
  • Knowledge of domestic and global, legal and regulatory requirements for logging/forestry industry.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. Lacey Act.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  •  Mature, self-motivated and able to work independently under great pressure
  • Very strong technical and project management background in manufacturing industry
  • Sound knowledge and hands on experience in ISO 9001, ERP system and operation management preferred.
  • Excellent management and communication skill, problem solving, analytical and decision making
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Mobile and willing to station in South America for 3 years minimum
  • South America sawmill and or plywood management experience required
  • Spanish speaking experience (language skills South American, not Mexican language skills) 

Compensation

Remuneration and Benefits:

- $100k - $120k+USD/year depending on experience
