Job Profile
Our client is a forestry service provider, focused on management of timber for landowners in the Pacific Northwest. Based in Terrace and working in the surrounding area including Dease Lake and Smithers, we are looking for a Senior Planning Forester to join their team.
This position will be responsible for completing timber development, including budget adherence and profitability as well as compliance, legislation and stewardship requirements.

Responsibilities
Lead the timber identification process, including timber feasibility reconnaissance
Manage the permit process for cutting and road access
Manage and administer development contracts
Mentor forest technicians and direct team members and sub-contractors through block and road layout
Maintain excellent communication with stakeholders
Maintain proforma models throughout the timber development process and forestry operations
Enter information into the Phoenix data system
Complete all required assessments, as well as peer review block and road site plans
Lead stumpage estimation

Qualifications
Registered Forest Technologist designation or ABCFP Registered Professional Forester
Education related to forestry or natural resource development
3-5 years of experience working as a Forestry Planner
Keen attention to detail
Familiar with BC Forestry legislation, policy and procedures
Strong communication skills and able to work diplomatically with multiple parties
Creative and good problem-solving abilities
Able to find solutions to complex timber development challenges
