David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Planning Forester.
Our Client is a well-respected natural resource management firm that provides operational, environmental, and safety management services to clients in the Electrical Utility, Upstream Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Sand & Gravel, and Forest industries throughout Alberta.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Planning Forester will work an approximate 50/50 split between the downtown Edmonton office and client work sites. This opportunity provides the distinct opportunity to work with a wide client base, exceptional challenges, and a work environment rich in variety.
The Role:
- Timber harvest and access planning, PSP/TSP program coordination, and reclamation program planning
- Coordination of forestry crews across multiple forestry related projects
- Direct supervision of field crew leads
- Ensuring that personal and crew safety is a priority
- Liaison with clients, government, First Nations, Trappers, oil and gas operators, and other stakeholders
- Managing field data
- Quality assurance/quality control
The Ideal Candidate:
- A university degree in Forestry and RPF designation
- 3+ years of forestry planning experience (preferably in Alberta)
- Demonstrated competency and leadership capacity in health and safety
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience with First Nations forest resource management is an asset
- Good GIS skills with experience using ESRI ArcGIS products
- Superior working knowledge of forestry policy, regulations, and legislation in Alberta
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Solid communication skills
