The Company:

The Dryden Forest Management Company Ltd. is a co-operative of Independent Logging Companies who hold the Sustainable Forest Licence for the Dryden Forest. The Board of Directors is seeking a relationship building and resultsoriented individual to provide expertise in the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive program involving the planning, harvest and renewal of 150,000 cubic meters of softwood and hardwood timber annually.

The Position:

As Planning Forester, you will report to the General Manager and will be accountable for forest management planning, implementation, and monitoring of the forest activities on the Dryden Forest. You will be part of a team responsible for the development of the Forest Management Plan, Annual Work Schedules and Annual Reports consistent with Ontario’s Forest Management planning requirements. You will ensure all operations are consistent with SFI certification standards and procedures, including monitoring, auditing, and training of workers on the Dryden Forest.

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:

1. Ontario Registered Professional Forester with progressive responsibility and experience in the complexities of Crown forest management.

2. Thorough knowledge of forest management principles, practices and legislation in the management of Ontario’s Crown forest within the Boreal Forest Region.

3. Comprehensive knowledge of computers and applications, specifically; ArcGIS, forest management modelling (SFMM, Patchworks), MS Office, and GPS functions.

4. Proven interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate tactfully and effectively with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, planning teams, stakeholders, contractors and the general public.

5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team environment.

6. Strong commitment to DFMC values of honesty, respect and collaboration.

7. Valid MTO driver’s license.
