Gorman Bros. Lumber Ltd., located in the heart of the Okanagan in beautiful West Kelowna, BC, has an immediate opening within the Woodlands Department for a Planning Forester.
Working as part of the Planning and Development Team, the Planning Forester will be responsible for the management and development of the timber inventory to meet Gorman Bros. tenure objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The position requires a selfâmotivated individual with excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills that can work as part of a team environment.
• A strong commitmentto safety, social license, and protecting the environment.
• Registration in good standing with the ABCFP.
• At least 3 years of related operational planning experience.
• Able to develop realistic and implementable plans within challenging environments.
• Detail oriented, accurate, flexible, and able to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key roles of this position include but are not limited to:
• Working in conjunction with the Planning and Development Team
• Establishing, supervising, and conducting quality control / assurance of consultantsin the delivery and approval of Cutting Permits, Road Permits, and Forest Stewardship Plans.
• Preparation and oversight of annual timber development plans and budgets.
• Appraisals and Stumpage Management.
• Liaising with Government Agencies, First Nations, Public, Consultants and Stakeholders.
