This position is primarily responsible for the plant health care program for the City of Leduc’s urban forest maintenance program and requires seasonal planning and coordination of budget, equipment and staff under the supervision of the Manager and the Lead of the Parks and Open Spaces department. The Arborist is required to attend tree inspections for Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC) and Construction Compliance Certificates (CCC).  There is a possibility of playing a role in representing the City of Leduc on community initiatives like Communities in Bloom (CIB), Leduc Environmental Advisory Board (LEAB) or Tree Canada initiatives.  

As the successful candidate you will have your ISA Arborist certification or equivalent post-secondary diploma or degree in Forestry or Arboriculture, a valid pesticide license, standard first aid and knowledge of WHMIS, TDG and OH&S.  A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in arboriculture is required, municipal tree care operations and supervisory experience is an asset.  The successful candidate will have the ability to operate various equipment utilized for parks operations such as an aerial lift truck, brush chipper, back hoe, mower including snow removal equipment for the multi-way system.  The ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends, and a Class 3 license with a Q endorsement is a necessary for this position. The successful candidate must be willing to provide a current criminal record check and driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.

Compensation

$58,593.60 - $73,299.20 / annum
