Description

Hood Distribution – McQuesten Group is looking for an Operations Manager for its Durham, CT facility.  Hood Distribution is a wholesale distributor of exotic lumber, western red cedar, Douglas-fir, eastern white pine, and a variety of other construction products to the retail lumber industry.   Inventory management and procedural controls are major responsibilities of the position.  The Durham facility services the Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island markets. 

The successful candidate should have experience in warehouse operations, distribution, logistics etc. in wood products or related field.  Specific knowledge of safe fleet operations and warehouse operations are essential.  Forklift operator/trainer certification are preferred but not required.   

Job Requirements

• Candidate will manage overall warehouse operations, including receiving, order processing, billing, checking, delivery schedules and inventory management.  Manage equipment leases, routine maintenance and necessary repairs on warehouse equipment, trucks, oversee DOT compliance, etc.  Monitor operational costs to assure operations are within budget.  
• Candidate will work with inside and outside sales staff as needed to provide sales support and/or information, resolve special delivery issues, etc. 
• Candidate would provide supervisory guidance, coaching and training to center employees.  Assure that all employees receive proper training and maintain their skills in equipment operation.  Make all employees safety-minded.  Assure that all drivers are properly licensed and trained and are observing safe driving and loading/unloading practices.
