The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently looking for a motivated individual with proven leadership experience in the forestry industry to join our team as an Operations Manager.

The Role:
The Operations Manager is the leader of the Operations Team within Mackenzie Fibre Operations and is responsible for managing staff to ensure appropriate volume is available to meet manufacturing facility needs and Company commitments within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a safe and healthy work environment,
  • Ensuring that all activities within the Mackenzie Fibre Operations are conducted in compliance with Canfor's Mission Statement, Environmental Policy, Forestry principles and Environmental Management System,
  • Providing and supporting a positive atmosphere for personal, professional and team development,
  • Delivering on collective synergies and continuous improvement initiatives,
  • Conducting proactive communication and coordination with manufacturing facilities to meet regional and group business objectives,
  • Overseeing management of marine transportation activities,
  • Meeting operational goals with respect to delivery of a profile and species mix of timber within or below approved budgets,
  • Creating positive internal and external relationships.

The Candidate:

  • Minimum of 10 years forestry experience,
  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in a related field and RPF designation would be an asset,
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering results,
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies,
  • Computer skills and related software knowledge including forestry applications,
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
