Starting Base Salary: $65-85K

Summary:
The Mill Manager will be responsible to direct and manage all sawmill and kiln operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, hiring and training of employees, maintenance, quality, and other production-related activities. Direct and manage all mill operations in the areas of safety, production, maintenance, and quality. Striving to continuously improve all areas of mill performance. The Mill Manager is managing 50+ employees with 6 direct reports, and reporting directly to the GM.

Responsibilities:
•    Manage capital asset maintenance.
•    Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses.
•    Provide direction, development and leadership to mill supervisors.
•    Encourage and foster a sense of high, positive morale among the workforce.
•    Control operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries of mill workers.
•    Enforce mill organization and housekeeping cleanliness among mill personnel.
•    Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
•    Maintain a preventative maintenance plan focused on eliminating or reducing downtime.
•    Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
•    Coordinate mill activities with buyers, lumber sales, and company drying operations to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
•    Ensure the safe operation of the mill by training employees in safe practices and eliminating or controlling safety hazards. Be aware of regulations and maintain mill in accordance withal local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
•    Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.  Monitor sawing of lumber to ensure logs are used for their highest and best use and waste is minimized.  Inspect lumber production to ensure the equipment is maintained and sawing is done in a manner to minimize production of thick and thin lumber.

Requirements:
•    5+ years of related management work experience desired
•    4-year degree, in a related field is a plus, but not required
•    Proven ability to respectfully manage a diverse workforce
•    Proficient in MS Excel

Compensation

Starting Base Salary: $65-85K
