Our client is a leading integrated forest products company in Australia and one of the largest producers of softwood lumber and structural building products. One of their major saw mills based out of Bell Bay Tasmania is in search of their Mill Manager. This is a critical leadership position responsible for the overall operations and performance of the mill.

Responsibilities 

  • Development of business plans and drive operational performance and improvement looking at areas of OHSE, operations, financials, human resources and customer service levels
  • Deliver sustainable financial results ensuring overall operations profit results are maximized
  • Leading a safety culture targeting zero harm through an effective program that strives to continually improve and delivering an environment system mirroring this safety approach
  • Engagement in the execution of sales and operations planning process
  • Drive operational KPIs: recovery rates, selling price recovery, cost reductions, R&M programs, OEE, capital costs, WIP, finished goods, spares and consumables
  • Manage a team of 170+ employees through 7 direct reports and putting development and succession plans in place

    Qualifications 

  • Mill/Plant/Site Management experience in lumber manufacturing/sawmilling
  • Proven people and process management experience
  • Education in business management and/or wood products manufacturing/process an asset
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong general business acumen
  • Ability to drive and lead change
  • Commitment to product quality and adding value to customers
