Mexico National Representative

SCS Global Services’ (SCS) Natural Resources Division is seeking an entrepreneurial individual to become the Mexico National Representative and a Forest Management/Chain of Custody Auditor.  Ongoing training is provided by SCS. The position is based in Mexico, preferably Mexico City.

Background

The Natural Resources Division represents several certification and verification programs including: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Forest Management and Chain of Custody, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™) Chain of Custody, LegalHarvest® Verification, Sustainable Biomass Partnership (SBP), Greenhouse Gas Verification, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Fisheries and Chain of Custody. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Legal status to work permanently in Mexico
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in an area of work relevant to forestry evaluation (e.g. post-graduate research, consultancy, forest management)
  • Four-year college degree in a Natural Resources- or International Development-related discipline; an advanced degree highly-preferred
  • Complete fluency in English and Spanish with high level of proficiency in written & verbal communications
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Mexico and other countries
  • ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor status or the ability to complete a lead auditor course successfully
  • Experience with ISO standards, FSC Forest Management & Chain of Custody, Greenhouse Gas, and/or supply chains preferred
  • Ability to decipher complex standards and provide clear and concise guidance to clients
  • Interest in environmental issues, sustainable forestry, and resource conservation
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability, forest conservation, and the mission of SCS
  • High degree of computer skills and proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel and basic database management
  • Superlative organizational skills, ability to prioritize numerous tasks effectively
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to proof your own work


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct business development and sales activities for the Natural Resources Division primarily FSC Forest Management (FM) and Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, and PEFC CoC, but also LegalHarvest® Verification, Biofuels, Greenhouse Gas Verification, RSPO, and MSC;
  • Maintain lead auditor status for COC and FM (if qualified) programs and conduct COC and FM audits of clients in Mexico and other countries in the region.
  • Collaborate jointly with each Natural Resources Program Director to develop and execute a sales plan for Mexico for the relevant program;
  • Support the coordination and administration of ongoing audit/consulting projects in Mexico with the SCS main office and SCS Mexico, as necessary;
  • Represent SCS to our clients, the industries which SCS serves, our accreditation bodies and other stakeholders;
  • Assist the Natural Resources management team in the recruitment and management of subcontract auditors to conduct audits for all program services as necessary;
  • Engage with CONAFOR to promote government grant programs that incentivize certification and help leads to apply for such grants;
  • Maintain well-organized financial and client records;
  • Perform quality control activities to assure accuracy and consistency of records; and
  • Participate in the implementation of programmatic initiatives especially in regards to business development, operational processes and compliance with SCS quality management systems and relevant accreditation bodies.
