Mechanical Engineer - Pulp and Paper (Engineering)

CIMA+ is currently seeking an Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Prince George team.

The chosen candidate will provide engineering services to our clients in capital and sustaining projects. Investigates and recommends solutions to production and maintenance problems, assists, co-ordinates and performs economic and engineering feasibility studies. Works closely with client’s project and engineering teams. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals based on problem definition (RFP) received from clients and walkdown with client representative to clarify the scope.
  • Participate in design, constructability review and delivery of construction work package to clients.
  • Provide cost effective and Fit-for-Purpose solutions to clients.
  • Ensure engineering work meets all applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Assist clients in commissioning and start-up if required.
  • Work with client’s maintenance and reliability team to develop inspection and repair scope packages.
  • Work on both brown field and new construction projects including equipment overhauls and small capital projects and provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in planning, designing and executing industrial process plant improvements.
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC.
  • Previous experience with conceptual design, front-end and detailed engineering of process plants in Pulp & Paper.
  • Familiarity with 3D process plant design tools is highly desired.
  • Previous experience with project engineering and detailed design project workflows desired.
  • Familiarity with the pressure piping codes, stress analysis and stress analysis software is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and a proven ability to collaborate with team members in a fast paced multi-disciplined environment.
