Position and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the plant to ensure uptime.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all direct reports are fully trained and competent to perform their assigned duties in accordance with the company's safety requirements.

  • Direct supervision and scheduling of all maintenance employees including shift schedules, hours of work, overtime and vacation approvals, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

  • Develop and foster good communication between operators and the maintenance team to improve response time for equipment repair and the overall equipment efficiency for all machines and equipment within the plant.

  • Enforce proper lubrication procedures for all equipment.

  • Ensure work orders for maintenance activities are complete.

  • Oversee the development and training of maintenance apprentices in accordance with company standards and the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.

  • Schedule and expand upon the plant’s preventative maintenance program to improve our ability to predict equipment downtime before failure occurs resulting in improved Plant uptime.

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement in all departments of the plant.

  • Make recommendations for equipment replacement as observed and required.

Education and Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Electrical trade certification or equivalent

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in maintenance in an industrial setting

  • Proven experience in supervision of maintenance staff in a unionized environment

  • Proven track record of promoting and practicing a safe work environment

  • Able to work a rotating shift of days, nights and weekends when required

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and knowledge of computerized maintenance systems

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
