EACOM is one of the major producers in the Eastern Canadian timber industry. Operations include the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of lumber and wood-based value-added products, and the management of forest resources. EACOM currently owns seven sawmills (5 in Ontario, 2 in Quebec), a remanufacturing facility (Quebec) and a partnership operation in an engineered I joist plant (Ontario) for a total of 800 employees.

We are therefore looking for a Maintenance Superintendent for our Nairn sawmill in Ontario. Reporting to the Mill Manager, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance team of millwrights, electricians and saw filers. You will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the plant equipment, systems, scheduling, health and safety and working with the production team to ensure the uptime of the mill and to better support operational goals.

Job Description:

·         Maintain, develop or upgrade the methodology of maintenance systems to maximize fast and reliable response to equipment problems. (In compliance with health and safety rules)

·         Identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

·         Ensure prioritization of accurate and reliable resource depending on the type of problem occurring.

·         Coordinate, implement and manage the plant maintenance program based on best maintenance practices.

·         Develop and manage the budget for the maintenance department and ensure effective cost control

·         Responsible to Plan and Schedule preventive/predictive maintenance.

·         Manage inventory needs proactively. (Spare parts, maintenance supplies, various equipment)

·         Establish and implement a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, inventory of spare parts and track maintenance history on equipment.

·         Analyze and prepare various reports to support maintenance initiatives.

·         Support implementation of processes, systems and best maintenance practices to solve recurrent maintenance-related problems.

·         Maintain and Implement operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.

·         Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.

·         Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as: PM compliance, maintenance cost, and schedule compliance.

·         Upgrade maintenance process of the work systems and maintenance contracts management.

·         Provide leadership, training and support to all maintenance personnel.

·         Assist with hiring of maintenance personnel to have a strong maintenance crew to ensure maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

·         Conduct employee performance reviews based evaluation.

·         Maintain and support safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures respect.

Requirements:

·         Hold a Millwright Inter-provincial Red Seal license, Collegial Degree or Bachelor related to Electrical or Mechanical Fields.

·         At least a minimum of 7-10 years experience as Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendant role and in managing team of Supervisor and Technicians, ideally in a sawmill or manufacturing plant.

·         Experience with maintenance systems or other computerized maintenance management systems.

·         Proven Health and Safety accountabilities and are knowledgeable of occupational health and safety.

·         Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, mechanical, fabrication/welding and PLC programming.

·         Must be fluent in both written and spoken English; French is an asset.
