Wage: $90 - $105K/year depending on experience
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or; equivalent specialized training and work experience.
Years Experience Required:  7 years’ experience managing the maintenance or reliability functions of a, highly automated and capital intensive, industrial manufacturing environment.              3-5 years’ experience recognizing worksite hazards, implementing safety policies, practices and procedures.

Description: 

The Maintenance Superintendent (Manager) is accountable for overseeing the maintenance of the wood panel processing equipment, machinery, buildings and mechanical systems to ensure operational effectiveness from this Minnesota facility. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Reports to: General Manager

  • Direct Reports: 4 shift supervisors

  • Indirect Reports 20 – 30 Maintenance and Electrical Technicians


    Accountabilities:

  1. Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems.

  2. Meets maintenance financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.

  3. Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems and requirements.

  4. Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.

  5. Develops the capability of the maintenance department by; selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.

  6. Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and additions.

  7. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.

  8. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. 

    Qualifications: 

  1.  7 years’ experience managing the maintenance or reliability functions of a, highly automated and capital intensive, industrial manufacturing environment.

  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or; equivalent specialized training and work experience

  3. 3-5 years’ experience recognizing worksite hazards, implementing safety policies, practices and procedures,

  4. Experience in capital budgeting; capital project management; as well as the experience with budgeting for the maintenance department

  5. Experience managing a budget and equipment parts inventory 

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Programming Logic Controller (PLC) experience

  2. Precision lubrication and/or oil analysis

  3. Experience within the Wood Products industry

  4. Experience with CMMS-Computerized maintenance management systems

  5. Experience using preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  6. Experience with parts inventory management and controls
