Years Experience Required:  The idea candidate must have a minimum of 4 years technical experience and minimum of 2 years managerial experience in forest product operations.  Must have experience with selling lumber product to MS, AL, TN and the Midwest states.

Job Description:

The Sales Manager will provide oversight of lumber sales team for a lumber and treated lumber company in Mississippi. True coach and business developer, responsible for strategy, planning and results, encourages others to make continuous improvements, leads the sales team via high expectations, motivation and structure, whole-company-oriented, works together with production to solve issues, highly motivated, is aware of market conditions, pricing and future requirements, innovative in marketing and new product/market development, surrounds himself/herself with talent.

General Responsibilities:

  • Direct report to President / COO
  • Manages all Sales personnel and performance evaluations
  • Develops and Implements Marketing and Sales Plans
  • Develops and holds Team Accountable for Company Sales Goals
  • Leads Key Account Management and Daily Sales Activities
  • Develops and sells to their own key accounts
  • Leads Business Development Strategy and Implementation
  • Maintain effective relations with all company divisions

 Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in SYP Lumber and Timbers sales
  • Treated Lumber Sales Experience
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and sales team development skills
  • Extensive Lumber Industry Network
  • Experience selling to large retail customers and buying groups
  • History of business development success
  • Sales Management experience preferred
  • Industrial Sales Experience a Plus
  • University degree preferred.
  • Computer utilization and experience with business software, sales development tools and marketing

General Performance Expectations:

  • Lead sales team to sales growth, enhanced margins, and new market and product development
  • Be the “Voice of the Customer” within the company.
  • Work with company Leadership Team to drive improvements, take advantage of opportunities and provide input on daily orders and shipments
  • Responsible to advise company team on forecast, pricing, buying and revenue goals
  • Enhance and Grow SYP Treating, Industrial, and Export business 
  • Travel as necessary to meet with customers, prospects and trade shows

Compensation

Wage: $100-$200k/year depending on experience
