Logging Supervisor Needed 

We are seeking forest management professionals to help our clients with supervision & completion of harvesting and road building activities for their Central BC Woodlands Operations. This position is field & office based and is well suited for an intermediate forest professional who is looking to make the next step in their forestry career. 

If you have three to five years of forest operations supervisory experience, a good knowledge of BC forest legislation, outstanding communications skills and a desire to learn more about forest products manufacturing processes, then this is the position for you. The candidate will be a key part of a woodlands management team and will be supported by a variety of other experienced forestry staff but must have the ability to work independently on a regular basis.  

Position Specifics:

Status: Full Time & Permanent.
Location: Vanderhoof, Bulkley-Nechako

Position Key Duties and Abilities:                       

·         Oversight of contract harvesting and road building activities and all post-harvest operations;

·         Management of contract loggers & seasonal staff in the field;

·         Liaise with appropriate government agencies with regard to operations on the land base;

·         Knowledge and understanding of forest product manufacturing processes;

·         Meeting corporate safety, EMS and forest certification objectives are carried out on the land base;

·         Ability to tackle multiple complex tasks and work with a minimum of supervision is required;

·         Strong leadership skills including communications and interpersonal skills are required;

·         Excellent work ethic and ability to work with and motivate others is key;

·         A commitment to crew and personal safety is mandatory. 

Education and Qualifications Sought 

·         Four year Bachelor of Forestry or Forest Engineering and/or a two year forest technical diploma and registration or eligibility with the ABCFP as an RPF or RFT;

·         Minimum of 3-5 years related forestry experience including harvest block and road engineering experience and/or forest operations supervision is required;

·         Experience managing multiple operational activities independently;

·         Experience in remote work situations in a variety of weather and climatic conditions is mandatory;

·         Experience with SFI and ISO 14001 certification programs is beneficial;

·         A commitment to the principles of good forest stewardship and sustainable forest management is mandatory.

Compensation

Salary: $70-85K annually plus excellent benefits programs including RRSP’s and profit sharing.
